How You Can Help Local Pets This Holiday Season
What a joyful, tail-wagging celebration we had at this year’s Reindog Parade! Thanks to everyone who joined us! It was a fun and festive day filled with creativity, community spirit, and pets dressed in their holiday best.
Our cupcake table was a huge hit—thank you again to Montilio’s for providing a delicious treat that everyone loved! And many thanks to Cape Cod 5 and The Pinehills for their continued support in making this annual tradition such a success!
We’re still pulling together all the numbers, so stay tuned for an announcement with the total amount raised and the official parade winners. In the meantime, enjoy these beautiful photos captured by our friend and supporter, photographer Meggan Foye. Her images truly highlight the joy pets bring to our lives.
When the Season Gets Tough, Our Community Steps Up For Pets
As winter sets in, the challenges faced by local pet owners grow heavier. Heating bills rise, holiday expenses stretch budgets, and too often, the first thing to slip out of reach is unexpected veterinary care—or even the ability to keep pets fed.
This December alone, we are already receiving two to three calls per day from local pet owners facing heartbreaking situations—loving people who simply cannot shoulder sudden, overwhelming veterinary medical costs on their own. Your support is the difference between a pet receiving care… or suffering without it.
If you're looking for a meaningful, impactful holiday gift this year, consider making a donation in honor of someone special—your favorite animal lover, a community leader in your life, or that friend or family member who is hard to buy for. It’s a thoughtful way to spread compassion in their name while directly helping pets right here in the Plymouth area. (Helping Hands serves the residents of Plymouth, Carver, Kingston, Wareham, Bourne and Sagamore Beach).

Every donation you make today assists local pets in need. It allows Helping Hands to fulfill our mission of providing these pets with necessary medical care and healthy food, and knowing that they will be able to stay with their loving owners in their own homes. You will be helping pets like the ones below, whose devoted owners have reached out for help this month.
Helping Pets in Need, One Call at a Time
To date in December, these are just a few of the pets whose owners have reached out in desperation and to whom we have provided assistance:
Bobo: a 12-year-old dog experiencing seizures and rapid decline. His devoted mom, on a fixed income, is heartbroken and needs help giving him a peaceful transition with a compassionate veterinarian.
Rambo: the family dog battling worsening Lyme disease. His dad, after exhausting all available funds on earlier treatments, is desperate to get him to urgent care.
Munchie: a sweet cat diagnosed with mammary cancer. Her mom is scraping together every dollar she can in hopes of life-saving surgery.
Jojo: a cat who needs two infected teeth removed and a neck growth excised. His mom simply cannot afford the high estimate from the veterinarian.
Phoenix: a responsible kitten mom sought help getting her 6 month old boy neutered; we covered the cost and ensured he received great care at an affordable clinic.
Spaz: a 20-week-old puppy losing significant patches of fur. His worried mom needs help getting him evaluated and treated before his condition worsens.
These pet owners love their pets deeply. They just need a helping hand. We are currently seeing a significant increase in requests for our assistance. We never want a pet to go without necessary medical care due to financial hardship. Helping Hands works hard every day to put compassion and kindness into action, with your help.
Your donation today helps us say “Yes, we can help” when the next call comes in—which could be just hours from now.
When Struggling Pet Owners Turn to Us, We Turn to You
Fun community events like the Reindog Parade are more than just joyful days—they translate into real, tangible help for local pets in need. Your donation doesn’t simply provide medical care; it offers comfort, security, and relief to the pets and the people who love them.
One of our CAL pet food pantry patrons shared with us just last week:
"We’re just so grateful for this organization and all that you do. As seniors, we’re all in the same boat. Times are so tough right now and we have to decide—do we feed them (our pets) or us? This pet food pantry is a lifeline for us. I know you’re all volunteers and want you to know that your time matters and what you do makes a difference. Thank you."
This is the impact you make possible every day. By supporting Plymouth Helping Hands for Animals, you’re not just helping pets—you’re giving their owners reassurance, security, and support when they need it most. Thank you for being a Helping Hand.
