How We Show Up For The Hardest Moments
From playing with puppies on yoga mats last Sunday to a call just a few days later from a pet owner facing a heartbreaking goodbye, this week reminded us exactly why we do what we do—and why community support matters so much.
Those joyful moments at a fundraiser aren't separate from the harder ones—they're what fuel everything that comes next. They help us keep pets fed, provide veterinary assistance, and show up when a pet owner is facing difficult decisions. Because of that support, we're able to step in, answer the call, and stand alongside someone saying goodbye to their best friend.
This week, we're sharing those stories—and the community that makes every one of them possible.
A Heartfelt Thank You To Twisted Spirit Yoga
Twisted Spirit Yoga and Healing welcomed an incredible group of supporters for a Puppy Yoga fundraiser filled with joy, connection, and plenty of puppy love.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, $1,050 was raised to support Plymouth Helping Hands for Animals and the work we do for local pets and pet owners in need.
A special thank you to Cyndi Pompeo-Adams for creating and organizing this meaningful event, and to Sue Murphy Smith for generously lending her puppies to the cause.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, donated, and helped make this event such a success.
And just a few days later, that support was put into action in a very real and urgent way…
Answering The Call
Not every pet story has a happy ending, but every pet deserves comfort, compassion, and care.
We received a call from Sadie, the daughter of a disabled veteran named Edwin. Edwin's beloved dog, Max, was suffering from aggressive cancer and needed compassionate euthanasia. Sadie explained that her father was too proud to ask for help himself, so she reached out on his behalf.
Money was extremely limited. They had just enough to cover Max's euthanasia but could not afford after-life services. Thankfully,
Vetco Total Care Clinic offers an affordable euthanasia and after-life program. After learning about their situation, Helping Hands stepped in and covered the entire bill.
Sadie and Edwin were overwhelmed with gratitude. Through tears, they shared how much it meant to know Max would pass peacefully and that they would be able to keep a part of him with them forever.
Many of the stories we share focus on diagnosis, treatment, healing, and second chances. But some of the most meaningful assistance we provide comes during a pet's final chapter. Saying goodbye to a beloved companion is heartbreaking enough without financial barriers standing in the way of compassionate care.
Every pet deserves dignity at the end of life, and every owner deserves support during one of the hardest moments they may face. We are honored to show up in those moments, helping ensure no one has to face those difficult goodbyes alone.
Fore The Love Of Pets
Max’s story is a powerful reminder of why this work matters so much. Every fundraiser, sponsorship, and donation helps ensure we're able to support pets and pet owners when they need it most. That's why we're excited to share that registration is now open for our 6th Annual Golf Tournament.
Events like these are about so much more than a day of fun—they make this work possible. This is your chance to turn a day on the course into real impact—putting food in bowls, covering veterinary care, and helping pet owners navigate unexpected challenges.
Whether you're a seasoned golfer, a weekend player, or just looking for a meaningful way to support local pets in need, we'd love to have you join us on the course.
Businesses and community members interested in sponsorship opportunities are encouraged to get involved. Every contribution helps ensure we can continue showing up when pets and their owners need us most.
Can’t Make It To The Tournament?
You can still make a difference. Donations help us continue supporting local pets and pet owners when they need it most.
