Paw-some Pets: Meet the Pets You Helped This Month!

What a month! Thanks to your support, 17 local pets received the care and medical support they needed — and dozens of pet owners were served through our three community pet food pantries with nutritious food, tasty treats, and essential supplies.

Meet four of these paw-some pets, celebrate our incredible community supporters, and find out how you can keep the momentum going with fun, festive fundraisers this holiday season!

Meet Lexi

Helping Hands received a call from Court Street Animal Hospital about Lexi, a sweet 3-year-old dog with a history of seizures. She arrived underweight and dehydrated, despite eating well. Her loving owners — a military family on a tight budget — were devastated and called us directly from the vet, hoping for help. The vet had recommended several diagnostic tests to search for a cause.

With Court Street’s 10% military discount and Helping Hands’ financial support, Lexi’s family was able to move forward with her care. She’s now on a prescription diet, gaining healthy weight, and feeling stronger every day.

Meet Missy

Missy is an adorable and loving 7-month-old puppy whose mom — a federal employee on furlough — reached out for help to have her spayed responsibly. Our go-to clinic, the MSPCA Cape Cod Clinic, offers a wonderful low-cost spay/neuter program.

Helping Hands covered the full $250 cost for Missy’s surgery, which also included vaccinations, a nail trim, and a microchip. Missy is now happy, healthy, and ready to enjoy puppyhood safely!

Meet Winnie

Winnie, a sweet kitty with a heart murmur, needed a costly echocardiogram to better understand his heart condition. His mom booked an appointment with Tufts Veterinary in Walpole, one of the few clinics equipped for this test. The scan revealed a blood clot above Winnie’s heart.

Helping Hands helped cover the cost of the procedure, and his grateful mom paid the remainder. Winnie is now on medication to dissolve the clot and will return for a follow-up soon. Wishing Winnie good health going forward!

Meet Dutch

Dutch hadn’t been to the vet in three years when he developed a painful double ear infection. His dad, going through financial hardship, reached out for help.

Helping Hands contributed to Dutch’s care — covering his exam, ear cytology, medications, and vaccines. His dad was then able to afford the cost of his heartworm test and parasite screening. Thanks to this teamwork, Dutch received a thorough exam, the proper medication, updated vaccines, and is on the mend!

Community Spotlight: A Heartfelt Thank You

These stories wouldn’t be possible without the support of our incredible local community — from businesses to volunteers who help make a real difference for pets in need.

A huge thank-you to The Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce — represented by Marie Oliva, Chamber President; Traci Medeiros, Chamber Member Services; and Cara Cipullo, Owner, Cape & Plymouth Business Marketing.

They visited us at the Plymouth Center for Active Living and generously sponsored our October 17th Pet Food Pantry, helping dozens of local pets receive nutritious meals. We’re so grateful for your partnership in supporting local animals and strengthening community connections.

Paws for a Cause Calendar Fundraiser: Results Are In!

Building on the generosity of our community, we’re especially thankful for Katie Carmickle Photography and for the support we received from our local community on her fundraiser.

The results are in — and after a very close race, we are thrilled to announce the winners of the Paws for a Cause Calendar Contest!

Congratulations to Winner, Lulu, and Runner-Up, Teddy!

Lulu’s moms, Martha Jamieson and Kathleen Thompson, are longtime supporters of Helping Hands, and Teddy’s dads, Bill Fornaciari and Ben Emery, are two of our top “dogs” when it comes to supporting our mission.

Thanks to all the amazing pet parents who entered and everyone who voted, we raised $4,935 for Plymouth Helping Hands for Animals! And with a generous boost from BF Architects and Bill Fornaciari, we proudly reached our $5,000 fundraising goal!

Thank You for Your Support!

From Lexi and Winnie to Missy and Dutch — and all the other pets you helped this month — your support has made a real difference. Thank you for helping provide the care and comfort these animals need. We’re grateful for your continued partnership as we head into the holiday season.
