Support Spotlight: How You're Helping Local Pets

At Plymouth Helping Hands for Animals, our mission is simple but powerful: to ensure that no beloved pet in our community goes without food, essential supplies, or veterinary care—especially when their humans are facing financial hardship.

We’re able to do this important work because of you—our generous community of donors, volunteers, and sponsors.

In this issue, we’re celebrating the power of local support—from recent grant awards to upcoming donation drives—and showing how you can continue making a difference. Whether you're a longtime supporter or just getting to know our work, thank you for being part of this incredible community. Together, we’re giving pets and their people the care and stability they deserve.

Thank You To Our July Grant Sponsors!

This month, we were honored to receive Community Grants from three generous local banks. Their support helps us continue providing food and veterinary care to pets throughout Plymouth.

Eastern Bank – $500 for our Veterinary Medical Assistance Fund, which helps cover urgent and ongoing medical care for

pets in crisis.

Rockland Trust Company – $250 for our Plymouth Center for Active Living (the CAL) Pet Food Pantry, supporting senior pet owners.

Cape Cod 5 – $200 to help stock the Plymouth Family Resource Center pantry, which serves local families facing food insecurity for both people and pets.

To these organizations: thank you for investing in kindness and ensuring pets across Plymouth receive the care they need to stay healthy and loved.

Sponsors Make The Difference

Our sponsors range from generous individuals to local businesses looking to make a meaningful, lasting impact on the lives of pets and their people in our community.

Thanks to their support, we’re able to:

→ Keep our pet food pantries stocked across multiple locations

→ Cover both essential and life-saving veterinary expenses

→ Advocate for responsible pet ownership and access to care

Why Specific Pet Food Brands Matter

Because we operate local pet food pantries, we do our best to provide specific brands of food whenever possible. This helps pet owners keep their pets on a consistent diet, which reduces the risk of digestive upset and related health issues.

When donating food or shopping from our wish list, please consider the following brands that we aim to keep stocked:

→ Dry Cat Food: Kit & Kaboodle, Friskies, Meow Mix, Purina

→ Wet Cat Food: Fancy Feast, 9 Lives, Friskies

→ Dry Dog Food: Pedigree, Purina One, Beneful

→ Wet Dog Food: Pedigree, Beneful, Little Cesar

Even a small bag or case can go a long way in keeping a pet fed and comfortable.

Seasonal Pet Health Tip: Watch For Ticks!

It’s heavy tick season in our region, and Lyme disease is a serious risk for dogs. If your pet spends time outdoors—on trails, in the woods, or even your backyard—be sure to:

→ Check for ticks daily: especially under the collar, around the ears, and between toes

→ Talk to your vet about tick preventives

→ Watch for signs of Lyme disease: fatigue, loss of appetite, fever, or joint pain

Prevention is key, and early treatment makes a big difference!

Thank You for Being Part of Our Community

Every treat donated, every dollar given, and every hour volunteered brings hope to a pet in need. With your continued compassion and support, we’ll keep working to ensure that pets stay fed, healthy, and—most importantly—home where they belong.
