Pawsitively Powered By Our Community!
At Plymouth Helping Hands for Animals, everything we do comes back to one powerful idea: supporting our community.
Giving back, showing up, and making a difference for pets and their owners right here at home is only possible because of people like you—our readers, donors, and local partners.
This week, we’re focusing on how our mission is pawsitively powered by community and what that truly looks like in action.
A Day In The Life At Helping Hands
Well… we may have broken a record! In just one day this week, we received 8 calls for veterinary financial assistance—8 pet owners reaching out because they truly needed help.
And so far in March, we’ve received 25 calls, highlighting just how much our community relies on us to help pets in urgent need.
Here's What Those Calls Looked Like:
A cat with an uncontrollable bleeding wound needing urgent care
A dog with a mammary tumor requiring surgery
A guinea pig with a suspected kidney infection
A kitty frantically yowling in pain who needed urgent care ASAP
A puppy needing to be spayed
A cat with blood in her urine requiring prompt medical attention
These were just 6 of the 8 cases from that single day.
And behind every call is a story…
The Pet Owners Behind The Calls:
An owner recovering from cancer surgery and chemotherapy
A single mom working within a limited budget
A retired, disabled veteran
Two senior citizens living on fixed social security income
A responsible owner needing help with a preventative surgery
Someone stretching every dollar just to cover basic living expenses
Each one is faced with the overwhelming reality of how to afford necessary veterinary care. This is why we are here. Why we listen. Why we care. Why we provide a helping hand.
A Pawsitive Update
We’re happy to share a pawsitive update from one of the calls above. We received a heartfelt note from the owner of Little One, the guinea pig.
“I can already see an improvement!! The folks at Duxbury Animal Hospital were so helpful and provided her with the medicine she needed. We are hopeful that this is what she needs to turn the corner. I, of course, want to thank you again for your generosity and support during such a scary time. ALL animals are precious and deserve care and love just like we all do. Thank you for everything you and Helping Hands does for our babies. You are doing such important work and I hope to someday repay your organization in some shape or form. So very grateful. Thank you again. God bless.”
This is what your support makes possible. Every call we receive, every emergency we respond to, and every pet we help represents a real animal and the people who love them.
It’s because of people like you that pets get the care they need and their owners get the peace of mind they deserve.
Powered By Your Support
The stories above show exactly why community support matters. Every donation, every bag of food, and every partnership acts as a lifeline—giving pets in need and their owners the power to get through emergencies, access care, and keep their pets healthy.
We are incredibly grateful to Boynton Family Dentistry for sponsoring the Center for Active Living (CAL) pet food pantry for the whole month of March!
The CAL helps seniors facing financial hardship continue to care for their pets, ensuring they remain healthy and fed—support that can make all the difference for pets who might otherwise go without.
We also want to thank Home Pack Pups in Carver for their generosity. Through their efforts, they collected $338 in donations along with 300 pounds of dry dog food!
Support from local businesses like this has a direct and meaningful impact, and we’re so appreciative of those who choose to give back to their community in this way.
Community Resources: Low-Cost Vaccination Clinics
Preventative care plays a big role in keeping pets healthy and avoiding costly emergencies.
Pine Woods Animal Hospital in Duxbury will host a rabies clinic on Saturday, March 21st from 9am to 12pm at 612 Congress Street.
The clinic is for cats and dogs only, with dogs required to be leashed and cats in carriers. Rabies vaccines are available for dogs at $15 and for cats at $25 for a one-year vaccine or $55 for a three-year vaccine. Microchips will be offered for $25 while supplies last. This clinic is cash only.
The Kingston Animal Shelter will host its Annual Low-Cost Vaccination Clinic on Saturday, April 4th from 10:30am to 12pm at 28 Evergreen Street in Kingston.
Vaccinations are available for $10 per pet, and payment can be made by cash or check. Taking advantage of clinics like these helps prevent illness and keeps pets healthy year-round.
Together, We Make It Possible
Community support is what makes all of this possible—from urgent veterinary care to everyday resources that help keep pets healthy and safe.
Every time you donate, share our mission, or support a local business that partners with us, you are helping make a real difference in the lives of pets and the people who love them.
Together, we are pawsitively powered by community.
