Paws & Purpose
Sometimes our work may seem simple — a bag of kibble, a vet bill, a donation box sitting at a local business. And when you scroll past a list of pantry dates or see a donation wish list, it might feel like just logistics.
But to us and the pet owners we serve, it’s so much more.
The pet food pantry dates aren’t just dates.
The wish list isn’t just supplies.
The partnerships aren’t just collaborations.
They are prevention, peace of mind, and lifelines.
Every piece of information we share connects back to one mission: keeping pets healthy, fed, and home with the people who love them.
This week, we’re sharing stories of impact, highlighting a local business partner, and passing along important community resources because kindness is most powerful when it’s shared.
Paw-sitive Stories
Here are a few recent stories that show what community support makes possible.
Luna’s Story
Luna was hit by a car in a hit-and-run accident about eight months ago. After costly surgery, her family faced additional medical challenges related to the accident. With assistance from Helping Hands, Luna received the diagnostics and care she needed, and treatment continues as she heals. Her journey reminds us that recovery often requires ongoing support, and we are happy to help pet owners through it.
Skoomi & Cami
Jean reached out for help getting her two kittens, Skoomi and Cami, spayed. Through the low-cost spay and neuter program offered by MSPCA, and with assistance from Helping Hands, the kittens received the care they needed. Spaying and neutering helps pets live healthier lives and reduces overpopulation — a mission we proudly support!
Rosie’s Story
Rosie is a diabetic kitty who requires a specialized form of insulin that is more expensive than standard medication. It’s outside her mom’s budget, so Helping Hands has committed to helping with the cost of Rosie’s prescription so she can stay healthy and ease her mom’s financial stress.
And A Fur-tastic Review!
Recently, we received this message from a local cat mom after one of our volunteers spoke to her and we were able to assist with veterinary care:
“I was in tears the other day… I was so upset… I just got a call from the vet and they said that she's got elevated thyroid. So we're going to start on some medication… It seems pretty hopeful… I am so grateful for what you did for me. Thank God there are people like you in this world… You really helped me. You really helped my cat. You are a good person. The world needs more people like you. Thank you so much.”
These stories are why we do what we do.
Every dollar raised for veterinary care.
Every bag of food distributed.
Every hour volunteered.
It all leads to moments like this — keeping pets healthy and at home where they belong.
That’s what your support makes possible.
